During the 2007 Easter Holidays, three teams representing some of the best young sailors in the South Pacific got together in Savusavu, Fiji, to race Optimists and have lots of fun together.
Thanks to the work and effort of the coaches, sponsors, parents and the community, the Easter Regatta was a great success, and we saw not only two days of supreme sailing, but also wonderful cultural exchange and new-found friendships.
The three teams were:
The Solomon Islands team –
all the way from Point Cruz Yacht Club in Honiara,
Solomon Islands
The Suva team -
representing the Royal Suva Yacht Club, Suva,
Fiji
and the Savusavu team -
from the Savusavu Yacht Club,
Savusavu, Fiji
You are invited to sail through our photo album and savour the great sailing and the warm, sharing atmosphere that surrounded the event.
Bula! We started with the traditional kava ceremony, held by representatives of the Copra Shed Marina and the Savusavu Yacht Club, to welcome our Solomon Islands friends.
The next day, the Suva crowd arrived on the ferry – the sailing team, coaches and helpers, and a trailer-load of racing Optimists to reinforce the Savusavu fleet.

The next day it was all on the back of the trucks and off to Wina beach for a picnic…
